NYC Bar 'Bans' Customers Who Use the Word 'Literally'

The owner of a New York City bar who's literally had it with people using the word "literally" all the time has "banned" customers who use it. The Continental in Manhattan's East Village recently put up a sign that says: "Sorry but if you say the word 'literally' inside Continental you have 5 minutes to finish your drink and then you must leave. If you actually start a sentence with 'literally' you must leave immediately!!! This is the most overused, annoying word in the English language and we will not tolerate it. Stop Kardashianism now!" Owner Trigger Smith told Grub Street that the notice has been up for five or six days, and that while the policy is tongue-in-cheek, he really does hate the word "literally," whose use he describes as being rampant. He said, "It's not just Millennials. Now you hear newscasters using 'literally' every three minutes on the Sunday news shows."
