New! Crimestoppers mobile app to report threats to school safety

Sheriff’s Office implements Crimestoppers mobile app for citizens and students to report threats to school safety.

In the wake of recent shootings and violent acts carried out in schools nationally and the contagious unease felt by our children, parents and school officials, the Sheriff’s Office researched existing technologies to help address these issues. In the interest of enhancing the safety of Beaufort County’s public and private schools, we have initiated a school safety campaign through the implementation of the Crimestoppers mobile app.

The Crimestoppers mobile app will enable students, parents and school officials to anonymously submit tips on threats to school safety, criminal activities and suspicious behaviors occurring on school campuses throughout Beaufort County.

A program manager from the Sheriff’s Office has been assigned to ensure tips provided to Crimestoppers are promptly disseminated to Beaufort County’s law enforcement agencies to investigate. With the cooperation of public and private schools administrators, Sheriff’s Office school and community resource officers plan to begin educating students about the mobile app and its benefits. In addition, we hope to enlist the assistance of the Beaufort and Bluffton police departments to engage public and private schools in their jurisdictions to further the reach of this school safety initiative.  The Crimestoppers mobile app is FREE of charge can be found by searching for “P3 Tips” in Google Play or the iPhone store, to download onto any student’s cell phone or mobile device. Once an account is set up, the user will have a passcode they can use to follow-up on what action has been taken to follow-up on the tip provided.

We appreciate your partnership and your continued commitment to the safety of our community and schools.
