Tom Petty's hometown of Gainesville, Florida is seeking fans' opinions on how best to honor the fallen Heartbreaker, who died on October 20th, 2017. A survey has been posted online by The Strategic Initiatives and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (PRCA) Departments, after taking initial feedback and reviewed the options for memorializing Petty. Steve Phillips, the director for PRCA, said, "The response to Tom Petty’s passing has been very strong, which is understandable given the great love this community has for him.
