Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) wants the public to be aware State Route (SR) 21 is now open at the Puerto Rico Air National Guard WC-130H “Hercules” crash site in Chatham County. In coordination with Georgia DOT, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and the Savannah Air National Guard, it was determined that State Route 21 can safely be reopened to traffic effective Friday, June 8 at 1 p.m.
Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures in this area to safety complete remediation work on the shoulders of SR 21.
