CHATHAM COUNTY/BEAUFORT COUNTY SCHOOLS CLOSED TOMORROW

Based on the expected tropical storm force conditions forecasted for our area as a result of Hurricane Michael, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System will be closed on Thursday, October 11th, 2018, for all students and all staff. Only essential personnel as directed by his or her supervisor, will be required to work on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

All athletic, after-school, and after-school extracurricular activities remain cancelled for today - Wednesday, October 10th, 2018. The YMCA’s Pryme-Tyme Afterschool program will remain open on Wednesday until 6:00pm.

The school District will maintain regular contact with the Chatham Emergency Management Agency to monitor storm impacts. If there are any further changes to the District’s operational schedule, notifications will be provided through the parent and staff call notification system, district website, and social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

Beaufort County District schools will be closed on Thursday due to predictions of high winds, including the threat of tornadoes, that could produce falling limbs, power outages and conditions that would make bus operations unsafe. All afterschool activities and sporting events scheduled for Thursday are also cancelled. Additionally, all extended day programs are cancelled. District officials will continue to monitor the storm and will make a decision on Friday class schedules no later than 2 p.m. Thursday.
