An American trucker on his way through Ottawa treated a busload of Canadian veterans to dinner to thank them for their service. The kind gesture happened in early September at Robbie's Spaghetti House, after 17 veterans arrived in a bus with that said “Vets on Wheels” on the front. John Meiring, who was there for his own dinner, walked up to the table and offered to pay for their meals. Meiring's son serves in Afghanistan with the U.S. military and he wanted to show the veterans that he appreciated their service. “It warmed my heart immensely that I could do this for them,” Meiring said.
