United Airlines pilot comes to the aid of stranded college student

A United Airlines pilot stepped up to help a stranded college student by paying for her flight back to school after her plane was diverted. Kiana Coffin was traveling back to Pacific University in Oregon when her flight was diverted to Seattle. When pilot Robert Fonte approached the 19-year-old to see if she was okay, she broke into tears. Fonte tried getting her a flight on his airline, but United doesn't fly from Portland to Seattle. Coffin reminded Fonte of his own daughter, so he put down his credit card and covered the price of a new flight
