After an alligator wandered into someone's backyard, a sheriff's deputy uised a catch pole to corral the five foot gator. But when the deputy went to tape its mouth shut it escaped from the pole and bit the deputy on the arm. A second officer jumped onto the reptile to keep it from rolling and managed to pry its jaws opened to free the deputy, who endured deep puncture wounds and lacerations and was taken to the hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery. The gator was euthanized.
