The Flintstones Are Coming Back to Television

For those of us who grew up with the stone age family, The Flintstones was the longest running prime time animated TV show.

And then came The Simpsons and everything changed.

The show originally ran for six years, with over 150 episodes on ABC from 1960-1966. It featured a working class Fred, his wife Wilma their daughter Pebbles, and like any good sitcom there were the neighbors Barney and Betty Rubble and their son Bamm-Bamm. Oh and don't forget about the pet Dino.

Now according to Variety the show will be coming back as a prime time animated adult comedy but as of now no network has taken the bait.

There have been several attempts at new versions of the show over the years, like “The New Fred and Barney Show” and “The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show.” There were TV specials and two live-action films. Seth MacFarlane also developed a reboot of the series for Fox back in 2011, but that project ultimately did not go forward.

Will Fred still work for Mr. Slate? Will Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm be a married couple? Time will tell.
