On July 13, 1977 New York City had a major blackout that affected everything and everyone. At the time I was living in New York and had just come from a concert at Central Park when power went out. We literally had to sleep on the steps of the subway because there was no way to get home. It wasn't fun. On the anniversary of that major event it happened again this past Saturday.
Jennifer Lopez had to cancel her concert because of the power outage that affected New York City over the weekend. She took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal that she had just started her It’s My Party show at Madison Square Garden when the power went out and everyone was forced to evacuate.
“We had just started our show, they’re asking everyone to evacuate very slowly and calmly and obviously that’s what we’re going to have to do,” Jennifer said on Instagram. “Obviously we’re going to reschedule the show…I am obviously heartbroken and devastated – and it’s very sad. I love you and I’m so sorry this happened in the middle of our moment.”
She made an announcement on her Instagram later that night, saying the date would be rescheduled. And it was: “ANNOUNCEMENT: Gonna take more than a city-wide blackout to shut us down!” Lopez wrote. “Rescheduling the show for Monday night!”
