Is Disney remaking "The Little Mermaid" as a live action film?

Alot of people are criticizing Disney because for the past decade most of their films have been remakes of older animated films done with live action.

And while people say Disney hasn't come up with anything and original recently, Disney isn't upset: their reboots have generated around $7 billion.

The latest is "The Lion King," and now Melissa McCarthy is hinting at a live action version of "The Little Mermaid"

"I read that you are going to be a part of the live-action remake of Little Mermaid," Kimmel began inquiring. McCarthy interrupted and asked, "What's that? I hadn't heard about that. It seems like it will be an awfully fun thing to do. I'd love if Disney gave me a little ringy-ding-ding." She then winked at the camera, and said: "If it did happen, it would be very wonderful, Disney."Halle Bailey is starring, and Javier Bardem, Harry Styles,Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay are also rumored to be in negotiations.
