An Ohio mom accidentally shot her teenage daughter when the girl surprised her by coming home early from college. Hannah Jones, 18, says she “ran through the door with excitement” to surprise her family at home — instead terrifying her mom, Renee, who assumed she was an intruder. Hannah shared on Facebook: “As I ran through the door, she was in fear for her life and shot me. I crouched down and let out two screams.” Her boyfriend heard the screams and called 911. Showing off her injuries and X-rays, Hannah says her right elbow was broken in three places by the shooting — which left her with eight screws and three plates in her arm following a surgery.
… The local police chief had this suggestion: “If you realize someone has a gun for protection, and they’re not expecting you — announce yourself when you enter the home, or even if you’re getting up to get a drink of water in the middle of the night.”
