Dr. Oz feels guilty that he didn't see his mother's dementia signs earlier

The Dr. Oz Show host tells Peoplet hat is “frustrated and mad” that he overlooked signs that his 81-year-old mom Suna’s health was failing. Oz lost his father in February, and he says that while he noticed that she was struggling to find words and his sisters thought she was dressing strangely, they didn’t put the symptoms together. “If the right word was, ‘You look beautiful today,’ she would use, ‘You look pretty prettier today.’ I missed those clues,” he says. “Alzheimer’s is like a snake in the grass. You don’t see it. You only see the effects of it suddenly. And if there’s a wind blowing the grass, you don’t even notice the grass moving strangely. It sneaks up on you.” Once her health issues became more obvious, she was diagnosed. Suna is now living in Turkey under the care of Oz’s sister,People reports.
