Oklahoma church pays off medical bills for more than 1600 people

An Oklahoma church will pay the medical debt of 1,660 state residents. The Lawton First Assembly Church raised $15,000 in donations and partnered with the nonprofit group RIP Medical Debt in order to pay off more than $1.6 million in medical bills. Families across 13 Oklahoma counties will receive letters in the next few weeks letting them know that their bills have been paid. Senor Pastor Don Barnes told local news organizations, "We truly believe that sometimes the greatest gift of all is when you do something for people that you'll never meet."

This is just one in a series of similarly generous acts offered this year around the country.
