Dan Hill learned the hard way that 24/7 is really just a figure of speech. The Sandy, Utah, fitness buff had just finished his regular laps in the swimming pool at his local 24 Hour Fitness gym after midnight on Saturday when he realized that he was locked in. The gym, he found out, recently adjusted its hours to close between midnight and 4 AM.
… Hill did what any gym rat worth his weight in sweat would do in this predicament: He shared the experience with his Facebook friends. He wrote early Sunday morning: “I am literally locked inside 24 hour fitness right now. … I called [the police]. They told me they’d call me back. I called my wife, she said find a comfortable place to sleep.” Hill waited two hours for police to rescue him. Hill, who plans to remain a member of the gym, now carries a sign to be placed next to the lap pool stating, “I’m here.”
