Bars give students a secret way to ask for help if they feel unsafe

Bartenders are now giving college students a way to ask for help if they should need it. The effort was started by Florida Atlantic University's student government, and about a dozen bars and restaurants are participating in the program so far. The group created a poster to hang in the establishments that reads "Owl Shot-- Are you on a date that isn't going well? Are you feeling unsafe, or even just a little bit weird? For help, just go to the bar and order an Owl Shot. Neat: Bar staff will escort you to your car. On the rocks: Bar staff will call a ride for you. With lime: Bar staff will car the police." The students hope to have the signs displayed in the bathrooms of all nearby bars and restaurants.
