Last Wednesday and Thursday, after dropping his wife at her job at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Allen Marshall stood outside the Exxon Express station along the route to Detroit Medical Center with a sign that read “FREE GAS FOR NURSES.” Michigan is one of the hardest-hit states in the US. Marshall bought gas for 50-80 people over the two days he spent at the Exxon.
