Having a furry friend can be a comforting help in getting through these scary times as we're hunkering down at home and unsure of the future amid the coronavirus pandemic. But being able to adopt a pet is difficult to do if you're in lockdown. So dog food brand Pedigree has been working on creating a way to let people meet and adopt dogs via Zoom. The meetyournewdog.com website explains that the idea is to let people meet the dogs, ask questions and adopt them without leaving their homes. Pedigree is working with the Nashville Humane Association this week to hold adoption Zoom meetings, and will also pay the adoption fees, so any adoptions from the event will be free for the new pup parent. It says it will be working with more shelters soon. As the pandemic shutdowns begin, shelters in some harder-hit areas reported they were nearly emptied by people wanting to adopt.
