Face masks are slowly being accepted as the new fashion accessory across the U.S., but it creates issues in situations where people must eat or drink. So an Israeli company has created a mechanical face mask that would allow the wearer to open and close the mouth in order to eat food without having to remove it. Avtipus Patents and Inventions say the mask is powered by a hand-controlled lever attached to the mask, and that it “will be opened mechanically by hand remote or automatically when the fork is coming to the mask.” The company is planning to begin manufacturing the specialty masks in the coming months.
