Sisters Who Set Out To Rescue One Dog End Up Saving 10

Izzy

When two women set out to rescue a dog, they never expected that they'd end up saving 10. Megan Wedge found a stray dog wandering around a parking lot in Dalton, Georgia, in mid-May. When she spoke to her sister, Sarah Bauer, Bauer decided to take in the dog, which she named Izzy. But she soon found out Izzy had experienced serious trauma. A visit with a veterinarian determined Izzy had been run over and shot with buckshot. X-rays showed the damage from the buckshot, but an ultrasound found an additional heartbeat. At her follow up appointment, Bauer got an even bigger surprise when it was found that Izzy was pregnant with nine puppies, and she delivered the healthy pups from June 11th to June 12th. A GoFundMe has been created for Izzy’s needed surgery for her injuries, which costs $4,000. Bauer hopes Izzy’s story will help to raise awareness about animal abuse.
