OLDEST WORLD WAR TWO VETERAN CELEBRATES 111TH BIRTHDAY

LAWRENCE-BROOKS-VETERAN

The oldest U.S. World War Two veteran, Lawrence Brooks, marked his 111th birthday on Saturday, September 12th, and the National WWII Museum helped him celebrate, as it has for the past five years. The celebrations are usually held at the museum, but because of the pandemic, a party with social distancing was held in the New Orleans resident's front yard. Brooks and his family watched from the porch as the museum's vocal trio, the Victory Belles, sang several songs, and the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and The Big Easy Wing did a military flyover. Brooks also received a cake and 10,000 birthday cards that had been sent to the museum for him.
