First-ever all-female fire crew makes history in Florida

Palm Beach Gardens Fire Station

How cool is this? Five local firefighters made history last month when called to serve as a crew by the Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department.

On Sept. 18, an all-female team worked a shift at Fire Station 65 marking the first time in 57 years that women filled all five positions.

The milestone was a momentous one for Rescue Lieutenant Krystyna Krakowski and her colleagues, Fire Medic Kelsey Krzywada, Fire Medic Julie Dudley, Lt. Monica Marzullo and Driver Engineer Sandi Ladewski.

Krakowski is a 17 year veteran and a mother of two who said "We work just as hard and do the same things to get to where we are."
