Wild animals are still wild, even if they live in zoos. A Florida man managed to get clawed by a jaguar at the Jacksonville Zoo on Wednesday (July 28th). The incident happened after the man jumped over a safety barrier and stuck his arm into an enclosure. The man was not publicly identified but is in his 20s, and was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told local news reporters that the man egged on the big cats before he hopped over the gate. He then apparently tried to get the attention of the big cats, leading one of them to swipe his arm. Deputy zoo director Dan Maloney says the man was lucky the jaguar didn’t latch on, saying otherwise “it would have been a very different story.”
