The Savannah Kennel is hosting WAGFEST to celebrate responsible dog parents and their pups: September 25-26 at Tom Triplett Community Park.
WAGFEST is the region's largest celebration of canine-human friendship! The weekend-long festival includes canine sports and activities, food, shopping, raffles, contests, and presentations by pet experts.
WAGFEST will feature a disc dog competition as well as FastCat, rally, obedience, agility, scent work, conformation, pointing, retrieving, tricks, game training demonstrations, and fun runs.
WAGFEST kicks off with one of Savannah’s pawsitively unique races: The Fast and Furriest 5 K-9 Race and 1 Mile Fun Walk! The racecourse will start and finish at at Tom Triplett Community Park. We will have a pup-arazzi on the course to capture all of the fun. The race time is 8:00 a.m. This is not your typical race. Your four-legged friend will be timed, not the handler. Every human participant has an opportunity to run/walk with a pup. We partner with local rescues and shelters to provide runners/walkers with a running buddy. 5K-9 dog participants and their handlers will receive a finisher’s medal. Race packets include a bandana for your pup and a technical shirt for you! Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division, but the fun doesn’t end there. We will have post-race refreshments and massages for the dog participants and their handlers.
All proceeds raised at WAGFEST and the Fast and Furriest race will go to the purchase of the AKC REUNITE (AKC Pet Disaster Relief Unit) for Chatham County Animal Services. This mobile trailer is equipped with supplies for Chatham County Animal Services to become better prepared to care for pets when disaster strikes our community. These units provide co-location for the pets and service animals of people evaluating emergency situations. Each trailer contains many of the materials necessary to set up an emergency shelter for fifty or more pets and service animals. Our goal for the 2021 WAGFEST is to raise $20,000 to purchase the REUNITE Trailer for Chatham County Animal Services.

The event will be held Wednesday, September 22nd,2021 at Savannah Harbor, Savannah Georgia. Registration begins at 10:30 am with shotgun start at 1200. The cost for this event is $100 and $10 for each mulligan (max 2 per player). This price includes, 18 holes of golf, riding cart, lunch and awards. Lunch will be served as you sign in. Dress code is collared shirt, shorts or slacks, no jeans or cutoffs.
