Animal rescuers in Texas faced a unique challenge as the wind and rain of Tropical Storm Nicholas battered the state. Gary Saurage, owner of rescue service Gator Country, says he got a call from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office very early Tuesday morning (September 14th) about a ten-foot gator blocking traffic on Interstate 10. Saurage says the animal was safely relocated to Gator Country’s facility, but that the alligator tore a door from its hinges at the facility before being safely contained.
