Of all the holidays in all the year, few can surpass the sheer joy of Fat Bear Week, a celebration of the resilience and appetite of the brown bears of Alaska's Katmai National Park. Every fall, the park's brown bears chow down on massive amounts of salmon in preparation for another winter's hibernation season. The National Park Service then takes pictures of the humongous competitors for fattest bear and posts them online for a contest. In past years, as many as 650,000 people voted for their favorite fatties.
