Here’s a heartwarming and funny dog story that could’ve ended tragically. Jared and Kristi Owens were checking their bags at the Lubbock, Texas, airport for a trip to Vegas. At the Southwest Airlines counter their bag was about five pounds over the limit. Jared and Kristi knew they had to take some things out so they opened the bag — and that’s when their tiny Chihuahua popped out of one of Jared’s boots. The couple say Icky is a “burrower.”
… So, yeah, had Icky not been found it could have been his one and only plane ride. But the story gets better. Cathy Cook was the employee at the Southwest counter who helped Jared and Kristi, and even offered to watch little Icky while the family was gone. Jared says Southwest Airlines is lucky to have such a wonderful employee.
