UPDATE: PER Fulton County Animal Services - The dog is in fair condition. We were hoping for more encouraging news. I hope the dog survives and thrives. Here's the rest of the story:

Just before Christmas, a doorbell video was posted online taken at the Landing Square Apartments in southwest Atlanta showing a woman violently hitting a small dog, possibly a Maltese, with a tennis shoe. The video was shared so often that it went viral and Crimestoppers and PETA both offered rewards to apprehend the woman.

According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Dwanisha Rayneice Hitchens was booked Monday at the Fulton County Jail on a charge of Cruelty to Animals.

Investigators interviewed several residents in the area but were unable to positively identify the woman.

Then PETA offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a woman who was captured on a Ring video camera pummeling a tiny white dog before picking up the dog and walking away. Crimestoppers also offered $5000.

The one thing we don't know at this point is the location and condition of the dog...but we'll find out!
