VIDEO: CALIFORNIA LIFEGUARD RESCUES A DOG SWIMMING OUT TO SEA

A life guard spotted a dog running loose through the beach parking lot and then into the ocean. The Long Beach Fire Department and long Beach Lifeguards were summoned to the Junipero beach after someone reported the loose dog evading capture many times.

"When Lifeguard Units got on the scene, the dog had run out to the ocean and started swimming out to sea," the fire department said in a Facebook post.

The post also said a lifeguard got in their wet suit and headed out into the water with a board and buoy to rescue the dog.

The life guard succeeded and brought the canine safely to shore unharmed.

The dog was taken by Animal Control Services, which is now attempting to find the canine's owner.
