Shannen Doherty is preparing her family for an "easier transition" in case she passes away as she continues to battle cancer.
During a new episode of her Let's Be Clear podcast, the Charmed star got real about cancer journey, sharing fears about dying before her mother while detailing how she has been selling her possessions to make her possible death easier on her mom, per Entertainment Tonight. Saying that her mother is her "priority at the moment," Doherty explained that she has been sorting through her possessions to sell or donate to "leave behind a cleaner, easier transition."
"Because it's going to be so hard on her, I want other things to be a lot easier," she said. "I don't want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don't want her to have four storage units filled with furniture."
While giving away possessions collected over the years could be a difficult experience of learning to let go, Doherty said it will actually allow her to make more memories with loved ones, per Page Six.
"It allows me to take more trips because I'm making money, I'm selling it," she said. "Then I get to build different memories and I build memories with the people that I love. I get to take my mom on vacations because I have all this extra money lying around and I'm not digging into the money that's in my estate that's going to make sure that everybody in my life is taken care of once I'm dead."
Doherty's journey with cancer has been a long one. She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and later went into remission; however, the cancer returned in 2020 and she was diagnosed as stage 4. Last year, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum revealed that the cancer had spread to her brain and her bones. In January, she shared how she was in good spirits while seeing positive results on a new treatment plan.
