Good Samaritans Team Up To Rescue Driver From Burning Car

Susie Gorman, one of the first to stop and help after seeing the smoking car, says there were about 10 people working together to free the driver and put out the fire. They used hammers, objects and their bare fists to try to break the windows, while another man cut the airbags to get to the injured driver as flames reached the melting windshield. As their fire extinguishers ran out, a cement truck showed up with a full tank of water they used to put out the fire, then firefighters and EMS cut the driver out of the car

Sergeant Jessica Shehan says VSP is “especially grateful” to the people who stopped to help and credits them with helping to save the driver’s life. Gorman says the strangers uniting to help the driver is a solid reminder of “how much good there is in this world.”
