In 2020, Gabe Horton founded Pawster Nashville with a goal of providing temporary foster care for pets when their owners face crises like hospitalization, housing loss, domestic violence, incarceration, or natural disasters. Since then, Pawsters has cared for hundreds of animals in 13 counties across Middle Tennessee with 90% of them ultimately being reunited with their families, although this is only a fraction of the number of requests they’ve received. With support from more than a hundred active fosters and community donors, Pawsters is expanding to meet the demand, aiming to serve at least 65% of foster requests this year.
