On Saturday, Chicago police officers rescued a pit bull terrier after he became stuck in a Chicago River drain pipe near the Harrison Street Bridge. A boater spotted the trapped dog, Faroe, and alerted authorities, prompting the Chicago Police Department’s Marine Unit to respond. Faroe’s owner, who saw news of the rescue on a public safety app, contacted police and confirmed the dog’s identity. Using one of his favorite squeaky toys, officers coaxed him safely out of the pipe and reunited him with his relieved owner.
