High School Volleyball Team Surprises Custodian With New Car

A girls volleyball team at Community High School in Collin County, Texas, purchased a car for custodian Abel Rodriguez after learning he lacked transportation. The Lady Braves noticed Rodriguez's difficulty when he waited until 1 a.m. for rides home. Student Addee Kuenstler said "He's just really helpful, honestly. He supports us through everything. He's our biggest cheerleader." The team launched a GoFundMe campaign, raising over $3,000 the first day and eventually $9,000 total. Group 1 Ford of Rockwall dealership and J.R. Arey State Farm Agency contributed by providing the vehicle and insurance coverage. Over 100 people surprised Rodriguez outside the school Wednesday afternoon. "I'm so happy with the community," Rodriguez told NBC's KXAS News. "I love you. I love you forever, guys." Student Jorryn Collins said they wanted to repay him for his support.
