Chefs Unite For “Burrito Project” To Help Feed Salt Lake City’s Homeless

A beloved community effort in Salt Lake City is returning after nearly five years on pause. Local chefs are reviving the Burrito Project, which provides hot meals to people experiencing homelessness. Rico gourmet Mexican food brand owner Jorge Fiero is leading the comeback. He once relied on the Salt Lake Men’s Shelter himself and says restarting the project is a way to give back to the community that supported him.

Fiero is teaming up with pastry chef Adalberto Diaz of Fillings and Emulsions and Jose Orozco of El Paisa Grill. The chefs say the goal goes beyond just offering food and serves as a reminder that the community cares.

The group plans to prepare hundreds of burritos this week at the Rico headquarters. They’re inviting other restaurant owners, businesses, and volunteers to donate supplies, help with cooking, or assist with distribution.
