Man Turns Bus Into Mobile Laundromat, Bringing Dignity One Load at a Time

When retired Frederick police officer Wade Milyard learned that some unhoused residents were washing clothes in a creek, he knew he had to act. Using donations and his own savings, he launched Fresh Step Laundry—a bus transformed into a mobile laundromat offering free, safe laundry services. 🧺💙

Since hitting the road, Fresh Step has already cleaned more than 2,000 pounds of clothing, giving people dignity, confidence, and hope. Customers like Chris Washington say clean laundry makes all the difference.

Now Wade is dreaming bigger—adding a second vehicle to meet growing demand. One load at a time, Fresh Step Laundry is proving that small acts of care can change lives.
