Lost Pup, Mountain Tough: Rocky’s 43‑Day Survival Story

Rocky the dog just pulled off a survival story worthy of its own wilderness movie. After slipping away from a pet sitter the pup spent 43 days alone in the Rocky Mountains—enduring subzero nights, dodging predators, and somehow keeping himself alive. His owner, Steve, had already moved to California for a new job, but volunteers kept the search alive with trail cams, scent stations, and social‑media alerts.

The big break came when a local’s doorbell camera caught a glimpse of a scruffy wanderer who looked a lot like Rocky. Rescuers set new traps, and eventually lured him in with the ultimate bait: peanut butter. Rocky had lost nearly half his body weight but was otherwise in surprisingly good shape. Soon he was back in Maa’s arms—and then on a plane to California—where he quickly snapped back into his old, goofy self. A true mountain‑dog miracle.
