Wyoming Woman Treks 2K Miles To Reunite With Lost Dog

A Wyoming woman drove nearly 2,000 miles to Florida to reunite with her dog, Whiskey, after he was found four‑and‑a‑half years after disappearing. Shelter staff in Alachua County scanned his microchip, traced him back to owner Gail Gordon, and set in motion an emotional reunion that left her “shaking with excitement” when she finally saw him again.

Gordon and her sister made the cross‑country trip with only brief overnight stops, and shelter staff described the reunion as heartwarming while emphasizing how crucial microchipping is for lost pets. Now back home in Wyoming, Whiskey is settling in with treats, naps, and backyard digging—simple joys made possible by the tiny chip that kept his identity alive.
