Arrest made in connection with Dec. 15 Mcintosh County shooting

MCINTOSH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The McIntosh County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has made an arrest in connection with the December 15 killing of Tony James Ferguson, a 41-year-old McIntosh County native

George "Big Head" Shawn Humphreys a 33-year-old resident of Brunswick, Georgia, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Jacksonville, Florida.

Humphreys has been charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during certain crimes.

The McIntosh County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division has led the investigation, with assistance from the United States Marshals Service. Deputies from McIntosh County and emergency medical personnel from McIntosh County EMS responded to the initial scene.

"Our thoughts remain with Mr. Ferguson's family during this difficult time," added Sheriff King. 'We hope this arrest provides a measure of reassurance, knowing that progress is being made in this case."

Humphreys is currently in custody and awaiting legal proceedings. The investigation remains active, and the Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with additional information to contact the McIntosh County Criminal Investigations Division at (912) 437-5140.
