The manager at Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply in Bozeman, Montana, had bad news for a young man at the counter: no, they can’t sell him any 9mm pistol ammunition because they didn’t have any in the store. Ammunition has been in short supply for months. Zachary Branson wasn’t having any of it: he became “verbally belligerent” and swore at the manager. When a customer suggested he leave, Branson allegedly swept back his jacket, revealing a holstered pistol, which he then grabbed and began to pull out, but didn’t pull it out completely. Shortly after, when another employee approached Branson’s car to get its license plate number, Branson allegedly did the same to that employee, who then “backed off” in fear for his life. Police found Branson in the parking lot of a nearby Walmart and arrested him on a felony charge of assault with a weapon.
