The traditional Easter Egg Roll wasn't held at the White House for a second year in a row because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the Easter Bunny -- masked up to protect against Covid -- made a surprise appearance there yesterday (April 5th), the day after Easter when the Egg Roll is traditionally held. The bunny, played by Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Westling, a military aide to the president, appeared with President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on the White House balcony. The president spoke briefly, and looked ahead to next year, when he said, "the White House will ring with joy of the season once again and there will be an Easter Egg Roll, God willing." The Easter Bunny later gave commemorative wooden eggs and chocolates to reporters during the daily press briefing, although a press aide was in the costume by then.
