As seen on 60 Minutes, supersonic air transport may be coming. Eventually.

If you watched "60 Minutes" this weekend you saw the story about Boom, a company whose goal is to bring back high speed air transportation like the Concorde did in the early 2000s.

Boom hopes to fly a test mission, without passengers, in about a year. But ultimately they plan to build a plane called OVERTURE which will take you to your destination in under 4 hours and, eventually, not charge more than $100.

One challenge? Flying, to break the speed of sound, without the consequences of a sonic boom. Currently supersonic travel is not permitted but if they can eliminate or reduce the boom to a "thump" that could change.
