‘My wife says I’m getting weird and I need to make friends'
After moving into a new neighborhood, he decided that one way to meet people is to hold a pancake party! ‘She says I need to make friends,’ the fliers read, inviting neighbors to a party in front of his San Francisco home. ‘So I’m making pancakes.’ The flyer gave his address and a time and said "come have some pancakes with me." His wife didn't think this would work thinking people won't read the flyers. On the day of the big event, over a hundred neighbors assembled for the inaugural party and told her "I guess they do!" Curtis Kimball came up with the concept as a means of bringing some joy to his neighborhood, where he has lived for about a year with his wife and two daughters. Given the pandemic, it’s been difficult to meet people, he said, and “I just don’t know how grown-ups make friends.” Maybe he's stumbled across something!
