WATCH! A bear trapped in a woman's SUV smashes windshield to escape

Bears don’t know how cars work. A bear that spent hours trapped inside of a North Carolina woman’s SUV ended up smashing its way out through the windshield when it could find no other way out. Ashley McGowin of Buncombe County said she took dogs out around 6:30 a.m. one morning recently, and she noticed her hazard lights were on and her dogs started barking like something had spooked them. So she investigated and found there was a large black bear trapped inside of her SUV. McGowin took a video as the bear smashed its way out. Neighbor reported hearing the vehicle’s horn honking around midnight, meaning the bear had likely been trapped for over six hours. McGowin said the bear fled with two cubs in tow, and that her insurance company deemed the SUV to be a complete loss.
