Wanted for multiple felonies, Billy Sloan was at a Chatham County, Georgia, gas station in an allegedly stolen car when police caught up with him. When an officer approached, Sloan sped off. With the police in pursuit, Sloan ditched the car and ran away on foot. The chase ended at a golf course, where Sloan jumped into a pond — a pond with two alligators, one of which immediately began circling him. Officers hovered a helicopter over the pond to scare the gators away. Sloan still refused to come out, and after an hour-long standoff police used an amphibious vehicle to fetch him.
