Statesboro native makes it onto The Voice with Blake Shelton as his coach

Last night on THE VOICE, Tanner Fussell from Statesboro, GA secured a spot on Team Blake by singing “Anymore,” by Travis Tritt.

Tanner was raised in a religious household where very little secular music was allowed. However at a young age he discovered Elvis, who quickly became his idol. While growing up, Tanner was very self-conscious to perform for others and spent hours in his room alone, playing and singing. It wasn’t until high school that his friends convinced him to play for them. With his newfound confidence, Tanner began to play out and formed his first band, Half-Seas Over, that played all over the Southeast. The band included his best friend and drummer, Will Smith. Tragedy struck in 2021 when Will was killed in a car accident after a car ran a stop sign. Tanner recently moved to Nashville to continue to pursue music. The road, however, hasn’t always been easy.
