In the hysterical 1980 film "Airplane," there are alot of lines of dialogue we've been repeating for years--"Stop calling me Shirley" and "I speak jive." That last line was uttered by actress Barbara Billingsley, best known to us as the mother of Beaver Clever on "Leave It To Beaver."
In this short segment, Billingsley talks about how that appearance in the film came about, and apparently there was more work involved than a quick walk-on. This segment will give you the behind the scenes of how it all came to be and why the director didn't like her read of her "jive" line.
Also the directors of the film talk about the creation of the scene and meet the two jive talking actors as they look back on the scene!!
