Recently, I shared with you the story of Hillsborough County Master Deputy Daniel "Red" Jones who helped deliver baby Lexela on Highway 60 in Plant City. The parents were headed to Tampa General when her water broke and they knew the would not make it to the hospital in time, so a panicked dad sought help and Deputy Jones showed up at the right time.
"Five minutes before we pulled up, I had my gun on a guy getting him out of his car because he was acting a fool," Jones told FOX13 Tampa. "And then, five minutes later, I'm delivering a baby in their car. So, you just don't ever know. That's the emotion of law enforcement, I guess."
The entire event was captured on Jones’ bodycam, which shows the deputy using his training to provide the pregnant mother with encouragement and emotional support. He even cracked a light-hearted joke to help keep the parents calm. Turns out it was mom's sixth child, but the deputy wasn't new at this either. It was the third delivery he assisted.
This weekend the deputy reunited with the couple and their new daughter so they could say thanks and he could wish mom a Happy Mother's Day. Watch....
