How New Kids On The Block helped this woman find a kidney donor--and kidney

Theresa Crockett, diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in 2020, faced a long waiting list of eight to ten years for a kidney transplant in California. Initially keeping her diagnosis a secret, she eventually decided to seek help through social networks and word of mouth. In a twist of fate, Crockett attended a New Kids on the Block concert, where she brought a sign stating her need for a kidney donor. Band member Donnie Wahlberg noticed the sign and brought it on stage, drawing attention to her plight. The band’s involvement led to widespread publicity, and eventually, a compatible donor was found.

… While Crockett was able to secure a kidney transplant, her sister, who also suffers from the same hereditary disease, remains on the transplant waiting list.
