Instead of simply auctioning them off, the authorities decided to repurpose them for police work. The cars and SUVs, which were taken from an international drug trafficker following his arrest, have been handed off to Istanbul’s police force. Government officials estimate that the 23 seized cars are worth $3.5 million.
